Hudson Whitman welcomes unsolicited, well-written manuscripts in all genres. While we are most interested in books that appeal directly to a specific niche market, we also want those same books to attract readers of high-quality non-fiction, fiction, and poetry. However, there are currently a number of very good publishers for fiction and poetry, small and large, so our preference at Hudson Whitman would be for non-fiction in any number of creative forms.
We do not charge a reading fee, but we cannot return any material you submit to us unless you provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope of appropriate size with sufficient postage. Also, please include a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope so that we may notify you when your manuscript arrives at Hudson Whitman.
Your manuscript should contain a title page with relevant contact information (name, address, phone(s), e-mail address), and should be on 8.5 x 11 paper, printed on one side only, either double or 1.5 spaced. All pages should be numbered consecutively and all manuscripts should be securely bound. Please feel free to send a cover letter with biographical information and previous publications.
Manuscripts that do not meet the above requirements may be returned or discarded. We have a small staff, so it could take three to six months to send an editorial response to your manuscript.
